Anti-drug campaign has been intensified in Muradnagar as Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muradnagar Police Station, Mohammad Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, declared that no drug addict or drug dealer would be spared during his tenure. He said police are working under a strict zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing a public awareness meeting organized at Bakhrabad area of Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla. The meeting focused on building a society free from drugs, terrorism, eve-teasing, extortion, online gambling, and all forms of crime.
Speaking at the event, the OC said there are strict directives from Religious Affairs Adviser Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad to make Muradnagar drug-free. Police are actively working to implement those instructions.
Anti-drug campaign activities, according to the OC, are essential because drugs are a curse to society. He stated that drugs destroy not only individuals but also families, communities, and the country as a whole.
He urged local residents to cooperate with police by sharing information about drug-related activities. According to him, eliminating drugs from society is only possible through joint efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public.
The awareness meeting was jointly organized by 8 No. Beat Policing and residents of Bakhrabad area under Jahapur Union. The event was presided over by former chairman of Jahapur Union, Syed Toufiq Ahmed Mir, while Azizur Rahman Momin conducted the session.
Among others, Union Parishad member Bahar Uddin, Badal Doctor, Khalil Member, and Anwar Hossain also spoke at the event.
Anti-drug campaign speakers emphasized that the younger generation must be protected from destructive social evils such as drugs, terrorism, and extortion. They called for collective social resistance and awareness to ensure a peaceful and secure future for the next generation.
The speakers further said that Bakhrabad should be transformed into a drug-free and terror-free area through public awareness and social movements.
Among those present at the event were SI Sultan, businessman and social worker Haji Delwar Hossain Chishti, former member Ali Newaz, Mosharaf Hossain, Mofazzal Hossain Sarkar, Milon Member, Danu Mia, along with local dignitaries and youths.
