Train Derailment in Cumilla 2025 took place on Saturday evening when the engine of the Sylhet-bound Paharikha Express train derailed near Rasulpur Station in Cumilla Sadar upazila. Fortunately, all the passenger coaches remained on track, and no casualties were reported.
According to Rasulpur Assistant Station Master Nahid Uddin, the incident occurred around 5:29 PM when the train was changing lines. As it reached the switch point, eight wheels of the engine went off the track, but the bogies remained aligned, preventing a larger catastrophe.
Relief trains from Akhaura have been called to rescue the derailed engine. Authorities at the scene confirmed that recovery efforts would begin as soon as the relief team arrives.
Although no injuries occurred, the derailment is likely to cause disruptions on the busy Chattogram-bound rail route. Local administration and railway officials are on-site and monitoring the situation closely.
