Charfashion Double Murder—A court in Bhola has sentenced three men to death for the gruesome killing of two brothers in Charfashion. The verdict was delivered on Wednesday (August 6) by Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Hossain at the Charfashion court.
The convicted individuals are: Md. Bellal of Aslampur Union, Md. Salauddin of Ward 9, Char Manika Union, Md. Shariful Islam of the same ward.
Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Hazrat Ali Hiron confirmed the court’s decision. He stated, “Justice has been served for the victim’s family.” However, among the three sentenced, Bellal and Salauddin are currently absconding, while only Shariful Islam is in custody.

According to PP Hiron, the convicts carried out the murders in a brutal and premeditated manner. The incident occurred on the night of April 8, 2021.
The victims, brothers Tapan Chandra Shil and Dulal Chandra Shil, had sold their ancestral 56-decimal land in Ward 3 of Charfashion Municipality nearly three years prior to their murder and moved to India. The land was purchased for BDT 2 million by Md. Bellal and his father-in-law Abu Maji, who paid only BDT 300,000 as down payment but managed to register the deed.
When the two brothers returned from India to collect the remaining payment, they were repeatedly deceived. Eventually, Bellal and his associates plotted to kill them.
On the night of April 8, 2021, Bellal lured Tapan and Dulal to a secluded garden near the Sundari Bridge in Aslampur Union under the pretext of making payment. There, the victims were brutally slaughtered, and their bodies were set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
