Bangladesh and Japan have held an important discussion aimed at strengthening future security cooperation between the two countries. On 6 May, Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinichi paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division (AFD).
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in defence and security sectors, along with several issues of mutual interest. The information was shared through a Facebook post by the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh.
INOUE Shunichi, Director of the Security Cooperation Division under the Foreign Policy Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also present at the meeting.
Officials from both countries emphasized the importance of strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Japan. Discussions also highlighted regional security, defence collaboration, and the expansion of strategic partnerships in the future.
Analysts believe the growing engagement between Bangladesh and Japan in defence and security affairs reflects a deepening diplomatic and strategic relationship between the two nations.
