Administered unrest: BNP accuses government of disabling administration to delay elections
Administered unrest is being deliberately created by the government by rendering the administration ineffective — alleged BNP’s affiliated wings Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal. They claim this is a calculated move to destabilize the country and delay the much-anticipated national election.

On Saturday (July 12), at a press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, Jubo Dal president Abdul Monayem Munna made these allegations.
In a written statement, he said the country’s deteriorating law and order is a direct result of administrative failure. “A particular privileged group is carrying out politically motivated and selective protests targeting BNP and its allied organizations. Despite repeated calls for the arrest of miscreants, no effective action has been taken,” he said.
Monayem Munna stated, “We believe the government has intentionally paralyzed the administration to maintain instability and use it as a justification for delaying the national election.”
He also mentioned that a recent youth survey showed that most of the country’s young population trusts BNP. “Shortly after the results were published, a shadowy group and its politically guided supporters began hatching new conspiracies.”
He said the law and order situation is currently alarming. “A Jubo Dal activist named Moin was brutally stoned to death in broad daylight in Chawkbazar. The nation is shocked. We strongly condemn and protest this barbaric act.”
According to him, those named in connection with the murder have been expelled from the organization for life. However, he expressed deep concern that key individuals clearly seen in CCTV footage were not listed as prime suspects in the case.
Munna further added, “We’ve seen targeted killings — from Khulna to Comilla — including the murder of a dismissed Jubo Dal leader, an attack on an imam during Friday khutbah in Chandpur, and brutal killings of Chhatra Dal activists at Dhaka University. These reflect the government’s failure to restore order.”
