An Israeli drone strike on a house in the Zebdin area of southern Lebanon has killed two Bangladeshi migrant workers and one Syrian national, according to Lebanese media outlet L’Orient Today on Monday.
Reports say all three victims were working in the area at the time of the attack. The identities of the two Bangladeshi nationals have not yet been confirmed.
This was the second Israeli strike in the same area on the day. Earlier, an Israeli drone targeted a bread delivery van belonging to the Zebdin municipality, killing two local residents.
Ongoing Escalation in Lebanon
Since March 2 this year, Israel has resumed military operations in Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 2,869 people have been killed and 8,730 others injured in Israeli attacks during this period.
Ceasefire Context
On April 16, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel. However, the agreement did not mention the Iran-backed Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, despite ongoing direct clashes and exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israeli forces.
