Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have reached a significant agreement to enhance Hajj and Umrah services following a high-level bilateral meeting, signaling a major shift toward more modern and coordinated pilgrimage management.
The meeting took place at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah, where Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah and Bangladesh’s Minister of Religious Affairs Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaykobad) discussed ways to improve service delivery, coordination, and technological integration in Hajj operations.
During the meeting, the Bangladesh minister highly praised Saudi Arabia’s modernization of Hajj management and its technology-driven progress. He also expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging their role in transforming pilgrimage services.
Several key proposals were presented to improve the experience of Bangladeshi pilgrims. These include completing Qurbani on the 10th of Zilhajj, establishing integrated camps in Mina and Arafat, and strengthening overall coordination in service management.
Highlighting that around 500,000 Umrah pilgrims and 120,000 Hajj pilgrims travel from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia annually, the discussion emphasized enhancing safety, healthcare, accommodation, and overall welfare for pilgrims.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday morning by Syed Atikullah Priya, a close relative of the minister and President of Jahapur Union BNP. He stated that Bangladesh-Saudi relations are built on trust and brotherhood and are expected to grow stronger in the coming days.
