Muradnagar Hindu Woman Rape Case has led to a significant legal development as the High Court has summoned the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Comilla. The SP is directed to appear on August 12 to explain why no compliance report was submitted regarding the victim’s security and medical care, as previously ordered.
The order came on Tuesday, July 22, from the bench of Justice Fahmida Khatun and Justice Syed Zahid Mansur. Advocate Mir AKM Nurunnabi, representing the petitioner, confirmed the development.
Earlier on June 29, the same bench instructed authorities to ensure security and medical attention for the 25-year-old Hindu woman, who was allegedly raped after her house door was broken down in a village in Muradnagar. The court also ordered removal of any circulated video of the assault from social media within 24 hours.
The authorities were previously directed to submit a progress report by July 14. The state was represented by Deputy Attorney General Tanim Khan and Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir.
In a parallel move, police have arrested five suspects in connection with the incident. The main accused, Fazor Ali (38), was arrested from Saydabad in Dhaka. Others arrested — Sumon, Ramzan Ali, Arif, and Onik — are accused of spreading the video online. All suspects are from Muradnagar.
According to the case statement and the victim’s account, the Hindu woman had been visiting her parental home. On the night of the incident, with her family away at a nearby puja event, Fazor Ali reportedly forced entry and raped her.
