Police occupies school for political rally — a move that has sparked outrage in Netrokona and beyond. A shocking notice from the Police Lines School reveals that academic activities are being suspended for multiple days to accommodate a rally organized by the controversial “Youth King Party” in support of Prime Minister Yunus.
The school’s official notice dated July 24th confirms that law enforcement will be stationed inside the school campus from July 27th, effectively shutting down classes until July 29th. Teachers and students have been informed that police forces will occupy the premises for “security purposes.”

Former Deputy Minister of Education, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, expressed outrage in a Facebook post, stating:
“Due to the indefinite and failed Youth King Party of Yunus’s company, a school had to shut down. Police will be stationed there. State police will be used to ‘secure’ this gang of adolescents.”

This brazen act of converting an educational institution into a political security base has raised serious questions about the regime’s priorities and the misuse of public infrastructure. Critics argue this is yet another example of how the Yunus-led administration continues to prioritize political optics over children’s education and rights.
Parents, teachers, and civil society members are voicing concern over the growing militarization of academic spaces. “When students should be preparing for exams, they are being evacuated to make space for police supporting a political event,” said one teacher anonymously.
As police occupies school for political rally, the integrity of the education system — and the sanctity of schools — stands compromised.
