The Indian medical team in Bangladesh has completed its humanitarian medical mission and returned to India this evening. The four-member delegation, consisting of specialists from two of India’s premier institutions—Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi—arrived in Dhaka on July 23 in response to the devastating Milestone school aviation tragedy.
Following the tragic plane crash at Milestone School and College on July 21, 2025, the Government of India, under the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, promptly extended medical assistance to Bangladesh. The medical team was dispatched to offer expert care and consultation.

During their stay in Dhaka, the Indian medical team in Bangladesh worked closely with their Bangladeshi counterparts at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS). They provided critical treatment insights, evaluated the condition of the most severely injured patients, and collaborated on medical strategies for recovery and rehabilitation.

The Indian specialists expressed satisfaction with the protocols followed at NIBPS and engaged in detailed exchanges of expert opinions, particularly on managing complex burn and trauma cases. Their observations and recommendations were well-received by local authorities and medical staff.
India reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Bangladesh in times of crisis and expressed readiness to provide further advanced treatment options, including in India, if required.
The visit of the Indian medical team in Bangladesh stands as a testament to the enduring friendship, compassion, and cooperation between the peoples of India and Bangladesh, particularly in times of shared sorrow and urgent need.
