Journalist Anis Alamgir Taken to DB from Dhaka Gym | Latest Update

Journalist Anis Alamgir has said that he was taken to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police from a gym located in the Dhanmondi area of the capital.

Speaking to Prothom Alo over the phone on Sunday night, Anis Alamgir said, “I was brought here from a gym in the Dhanmondi area. DB officials told me that their chief wants to speak with me.”

According to him, he was picked up around 7:30 PM and reached the DB office at approximately 8:00 PM. “I have been waiting here since then. So far, I have not spoken to the DB chief,” he added.

When contacted around 8:30 PM, Anis Alamgir confirmed that he was inside the DB office and was cooperating with the authorities.

Senior journalist Anis Alamgir has previously worked with several national media outlets, including Ajker Kagoj. In recent months, he had drawn public attention through his outspoken comments on various television talk shows.

Attempts were made to contact three senior officials of the Detective Branch to determine the reason behind taking Anis Alamgir to the DB office. However, none of them were immediately available for comment.
