A tragic road accident in the United States has claimed the lives of three Bangladeshi expatriates from Muradnagar, Cumilla, leaving two others seriously injured and casting a shadow of grief over the community.
The accident occurred on Monday (April 6) at around 7:27 PM (New York time) in the Albany area of New York. According to reports, the deceased were identified as Md. Hiraman (60), his son Nazmul Robel (30), and Fahim Alim (27), all residents of Koroi Bari village in Muradnagar উপজেলার. Hiraman and Nazmul were father and son, while Fahim was a close friend of Nazmul. They had been living in Loudonville, New York.
Two others injured in the crash are Hiraman’s elder daughter Ratna (33) and his one-year-old granddaughter Ikra. Both were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Albany.
Sources from the Bangladeshi community in New York said that the victims had gone out for a drive in a private car on Monday evening. The vehicle was being driven by Nazmul Robel. While traveling on Route 9H near Van Wyck Lane in Albany, the car reportedly lost control, crossed the median, and collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Crown. The impact of the crash was severe, killing four people on the spot, including the three Bangladeshis.
The incident has sent shockwaves through both the expatriate community in New York and their hometown in Muradnagar, where relatives and locals are mourning the sudden loss.
According to family sources, the funeral prayers (Janaza) for the deceased will be held on Wednesday after Zuhr prayer at Baitul Aman Islamic Center in the Bronx, New York. They will later be laid to rest at Marlboro Muslim Cemetery in New Jersey.
Family members have requested prayers for the departed souls, as the community comes to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
