Mohammad Shariful Alam Chowdhury, Cumilla : A college student named Umme Tahmina Akter (19) has been missing for four days after she went to the Union Parishad office in Debidwar, Cumilla, to correct her birth certificate.
Tahmina is the daughter of Golam Mostafa from Gangannagar village in the Jafarganj Union of Debidwar upazila. She had been preparing to apply for admission to various universities.
According to family sources, after completing her SSC from Debidwar, she enrolled in the Business Studies department at Kalachandpur Government College in Dhaka. The family resides near the Bhatara area of the capital.
Tahmina recently passed her HSC and was taking university entrance exams. Last Saturday, she participated in the admission test for the 'C' unit at Cumilla University. She came to her grandfather’s house in Debidwar to take the exam and attended it from there as her exam center was Cumilla Cantonment College.
On the same day, at around 3 PM, she left her grandfather’s house, saying she was going to the Jafarganj Union Parishad to correct her birth certificate. Since then, she has not returned. As time passed into the evening and there was no contact from her, her family grew increasingly worried.
After waiting for three days without any news, her brother filed a missing person’s report (GD) at the Debidwar Police Station on April 21.
Her family suspects she may have been abducted.
Debidwar Police Station Sub-Inspector Shubho Kumar Shil confirmed the report and said they are actively investigating the matter.
