A 32-year-old man named Saddam Hossain was allegedly beaten to death after being tied to a tree in Muradnagar, Cumilla, over accusations of theft. Saddam, a resident of Roachala village, worked as a laborer in a spice shop in Chattogram's Khatunganj.
According to police and the victim’s family, on the night of May 9, the caretaker of Ladum Shah shrine, Kawsar Molla, called Saddam out of his home and gathered locals to assault him. He was later brutally beaten to death by Mostafa, Selim, and Rabbi from the nearby Kalaraiya village.
Police have arrested the three suspects and presented them in court. One of the accused, Rabbi, has reportedly given a confessional statement under Section 164.
Following the incident, locals held a human chain protest demanding justice. The victim's family claims the murder was premeditated and called for exemplary punishment for those responsible.
