Rangpur-based daily Akhira newspaper marked its 30th anniversary with a grand ceremony, where journalists working in various categories were honoured for their contributions. Among them, Ghaibandha district correspondent and Dainik Amader Shomoy Palashbari upazila correspondent Md. Arif Uddin was selected as the Best Correspondent of Akhira newspaper.
The event was held on Saturday (May 23) afternoon at the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce hall room, featuring a discussion session and award distribution ceremony.
At the programme, Md. Arif Uddin was formally awarded a crest and recognition as Best Correspondent by Advocate Rezeka Sultana Fancy, Member of Parliament from a reserved women’s seat.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Shah Alam of Rangpur Carmichael College, former VP Alauddin Mia, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Nazrul Islam, Chairman of Banglar Chokh Tanvir Hossain Ashrafi, Editor and Publisher of Akhira newspaper Masud-ur Rahman Milu, Executive Editor Nurun Nahar Masud Seema, and poet and writer T. M. Monowar Hossain from Ghaibandha, among others.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of responsible journalism, improving media standards, and the positive role of the press in society.
