NCP’s alleged conspiracy is now under intense political scrutiny after five top leaders of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) made a sudden and unannounced trip to Cox’s Bazar. The visit, which included a stay at a luxurious resort and a secret hotel switch the next day, has fueled controversy and speculation both inside and outside the party.
On Wednesday (August 6), around 1:30 PM, the leaders quietly left Hotel Sea Pearl in a white VIP vehicle. After lunch at Shalik Restaurant in Kolatoli, they secretly checked into the high-end “Prasad Paradise” hotel in central Cox’s Bazar. This unexpected move did not go unnoticed by local authorities and political insiders.
According to police sources, the five leaders — Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam, Dr. Tasmin Zara, Nasiruddin Patwari, and Khaled Saifullah — arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (August 5) at 11:25 AM via a Bangladesh Biman flight. They were reportedly staying in rooms 5001, 5002, and 5003 of the Sea Pearl Beach Resort (Royal Tulip) in Inani.
Interestingly, they did not use the VIP lounge at the airport and exited via the general gate, reportedly accompanied by Sarjis Alam’s wife. Their driver confirmed transporting the group directly to the hotel after their arrival.
Rumors began to circulate about a possible meeting with former US Ambassador Peter Haas, though hotel authorities and law enforcement sources denied such claims.
Local residents confirmed the presence of law enforcement near the resort from Tuesday. However, officers were seen leaving the premises shortly after 1:30 PM on Wednesday, just as the NCP leaders also moved.
Party insiders revealed that the central committee was unaware of the trip. In response, NCP’s Joint Member Secretary (Office), Saleh Uddin Sifat, issued a show-cause notice to the five leaders, asking them to appear before Convenor Md. Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain within 24 hours to explain their actions in writing.
A Cox’s Bazar airport official confirmed that there were no return bookings under the names of the five leaders.
The incident has sparked fresh debate over the alleged conspiracy within NCP’s alleged raising questions about internal discipline, hidden agendas, and whether the leadership is heading toward a deeper rift.
