Satkhira Correspondent: A shocking incident of violence unfolded at the Satkhira সদর Sub-Registry Office, where an NTV correspondent, Zulfikar Ali Jinnah, was brutally assaulted, allegedly by a powerful office syndicate over a land registration dispute.
The incident occurred on Monday (March 30) দুপুর at the Sub-Registry Office premises. According to sources, the attack was carried out after the journalist attempted to process land registration outside the influence of a local syndicate controlling such activities.
It was learned that journalist Zulfikar Ali Jinnah had paid approximately BDT 15 million to purchase land from Moksedur Rashid, a resident of Baniakhama in Khulna. He visited the registry office to assist in completing the legal registration process. However, bypassing the unofficial syndicate reportedly triggered anger among a group of influential individuals.
The injured journalist alleged that a group of 15–20 افراد, led by Deed Writers Association President Mohibullah and businessman Syed Rezaul Hossain Tutul, also known as “Gold Tutul,” launched the हमला.
According to allegations, both the journalist and the landowner were falsely labeled as “Indian citizens,” which escalated into a heated argument before turning into a violent assault. Witnesses and victims identified several attackers, including deed writer Abu Hasan and Mamun of Panna Bakery.
At one point, Jinnah was severely beaten and lost consciousness. Police from Satkhira Sadar Police Station rushed to the scene upon receiving information and rescued him. অভিযোগ রয়েছে that “Gold Tutul” also unlawfully detained the landowner, Moksedur Rashid, inside the Deed Writers Association office. He was later freed following police intervention.
Eyewitness Anwar Hossain Sumon stated that Mohibullah, Tutul, his son Shihab, Saiful, Mamun, and several armed افراد attacked the journalist inside the office.
Landowner Moksedur Rashid said he came to register his legally purchased land but faced বাধা from a powerful syndicate that allegedly extorts money and controls registry কাজ. He claimed that when he tried to proceed independently, journalist Jinnah stepped in to help—leading to the হামলা.
“I demand justice for this attack and security for my life and property,” he said.
However, General Secretary of the Deed Writers Association, Nasir Uddin, denied allegations of assault, claiming that Jinnah was attempting to register land on behalf of an Indian citizen, which led to a scuffle.
Satkhira Sadar Sub-Registrar Amayik Babu confirmed that a clash occurred between দুই পক্ষ over a land registration dispute. He said authorities have decided to file a General Diary (GD) regarding the disorder داخل a government office.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, Masudur Rahman, said police responded immediately and rescued the injured journalist. Victims have been asked to file a written complaint, and strict legal action will be taken after investigation.
