Rape in Muradnagar, Cumilla is under the High Court’s observation as the state has sought and received one week’s time to submit the investigation report. The decision was made on Monday (July 14) when the High Court bench accepted the government’s request.
The state informed the court that the investigation report was not yet in hand and additional time was needed. The bench, led by Justice Fahmida Khatun and Justice Syed Zahid Mansur, granted the extension.

Earlier, on June 29, the High Court had ordered the removal of a viral video showing the rape in Muradnagar, Cumilla from all social media platforms. The court also instructed authorities to ensure the victim’s safety and provide necessary medical treatment.
Supreme Court lawyer Mir AKM Nurunnabi filed a writ petition in this regard and represented it himself during the hearing. Deputy Attorney General Tanim Khan and Assistant Attorney General Ikramul Kabir appeared on behalf of the state.
Speaking to the press, Nurunnabi said, “I filed the writ petition because this is a heinous and highly sensitive case. The court asked for an update on the investigation within 15 days—meaning by July 14.”
He added, “The court has ordered the immediate removal of all images and videos within 24 hours, and emphasized providing medical care and full protection to the victim.”
The case was officially filed by the victim on June 27 at Muradnagar Police Station. Police have since arrested the main accused, Fozor Ali, along with several others involved in spreading the video online. All the suspects are reportedly connected to the rape in Muradnagar, Cumilla.
