Mohammad Shariful Alam Chowdhury : This time there was an incident of UNO's 'rude' behavior with a journalist in Sirajganj's Kazipur. During the 43rd general meeting of Kazipur Upazila Parishad, there was an allegation that UNO misbehaved with the journalist present.
It is known that the incident took place in the Upazila Parishad hall on Tuesday (July 26). Gholam Kibria Khan, the upazila representative of Kazipur upazila of Alor, a victim journalist, said that when the activities of the journalists were criticized in the meeting, he asked for permission to speak. At that time, UNO Zahid Hasan Siddiqui demanded to know who allowed the access to the meeting in a hoarse voice in an undesired excited tone. In reply, the journalist said that Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Deen Mohammad Bablu, who is the chairman of the meeting, called him through the office assistant of the Parishad. UNO also expressed displeasure and created an embarrassing situation by shouting. The members present in the meeting felt embarrassed in this incident.
The public representatives who witnessed the incident expressed their anger. Upazila Parishad Women's Vice Chairman Shapla Khatun said, "UNO could have not said the words like this."
Chauladanga UP Chairman Atiqur Rahman Mukul said, "It was not right for UNO to treat the journalist in such an indecent manner." He did not show responsibility. This is disrespectful and unethical.
Shubogacha UP Chairman Ghiyas Uddin, Tekani UP Chairman Harunor Rashid, Chargirish UP Chairman Khairul Kabir and government officials who did not want to reveal their names admitted this incident of indecent behavior.
Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Deen Mohammad Bablu, who presided over the meeting, said, "As the president of the meeting, I invited the journalist to the meeting. Such behavior of UNO is totally unexpected.
When UNO Zahid Hasan Siddiqui was contacted in this regard, he denied the indecent behavior.
