Five-Year-Old Sabihah Islam Sets an Example with Her Love for Newspapers

Sabihah Islam, a five-year-old girl from Kaziatal village under Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla, Bangladesh, has already set herself apart from her peers. While most children of her age are drawn to cartoons and toys, Sabihah prefers to spend her time reading newspapers.

Currently enrolled in nursery at a madrasa in Dhaka’s Shanir Akhra area, Sabihah is the daughter of Fahima Begum Priya—a brave journalist and homemaker—and a religiously devoted businessman father.

From an early age, Sabihah has shown a keen interest in learning. Her mother shared, “Although she’s very young, she has an intense curiosity to learn new things. She looks at newspaper headlines, pictures, and even tries to pronounce some words. We hope she grows up to do something meaningful for society.”

Sabihah’s love for reading at such a young age is truly inspiring. She reflects the bright future of a generation that values knowledge and awareness. Children like her hold the promise of a better tomorrow.
