In a decisive move against malpractice in Bangladesh’s private healthcare sector, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain ordered the immediate sealing of Doctors Care Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in the Shyamoli area of Dhaka.
The action followed an unannounced inspection conducted this afternoon, where authorities uncovered multiple irregularities, including allegations that surgeries were being performed by unqualified or fake doctors.
To ensure patient safety, the ministry arranged the swift transfer of all admitted patients to nearby hospitals. During the visit, the minister inspected various departments and spoke directly with patients and their relatives.
Several alleged victims also arrived at the hospital upon learning of the inspection, accusing the facility of fraud and malpractice under the guise of medical treatment.
The minister confirmed that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible and emphasized that monitoring of private healthcare institutions would be intensified to prevent such incidents in the future.
