Mahtab’s father, Md. Minhazur Rahman Bhuiyan, was also present. “The whole country prayed for my son. I’m grateful to everyone. I pray that my son is remembered as a martyr. May I die as the proud father of a martyr,” he expressed, holding back tears.

When asked about the ongoing investigation into the Milestone Accident, Wing Commander Atik Hasan confirmed that the process is still underway. He assured that all updates and support for the affected families will be provided through ISPR.
On 21 July, just before school dismissal, a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into the Milestone School building in Dhaka. The incident left many students and teachers injured. Among them was seventh-grader Mahtab Rahman Bhuiyan, who suffered burns to over 70% of his body. He was airlifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to the ICU at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday (24 July) at 1:50 PM.
Mahtab was buried that same night in the family graveyard after funeral prayers in his village.
