Veteran journalist Mohammad Shariful Alam Chowdhury has been honored with the prestigious international ‘BGC Star Award 2026’ in recognition of his outstanding contributions and professionalism in journalism. The international award was presented to him at a grand ceremony held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Hyderabad, India.
According to the organizing authority, this international recognition was bestowed upon him for his consistent and significant contributions to journalism with utmost responsibility, objectivity, and courage spanning over 27 years. The event was organized by the British Graduate College (BGC) in Hyderabad, India.

From Bangladesh, popular actresses Sabila Nur, Runa Khan, and Tanjika Amin, along with actors Rashed Mamun Apu, Saifur Rahman Ivan, Syeda Kamrunnahar Shahnoor, and Al Mashid Ron, were also honored at the event under the entertainment category.
Hosted by Dr. Hussain Alam, the ceremony was attended by special guests, including Jan Zacharewicz, Rector of the University of Tourism and Hotel Management in Gdańsk, Poland, and Mr. Tomasz Janosch, Director of the University Cooperation Office.
Other distinguished guests included Didier Guizy, Honorary Consul of France in Wrocław; pediatrician Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman; Warsaw representative Mahbub Siddique; general surgery specialist Dr. Md. Khalilul Kaiyum; and Sergiusz Czulkowski, Director of the School of Terra Nova. Omar Faruque, Honorary Consul of Bangladesh to the Silesian region, and Dr. Hubert Costa Sargon were also present as guests of honor.
The international award recipient, Mohammad Shariful Alam Chowdhury, has been working with great repute in print, online, and electronic media for over 27 years. Currently, he is serving as the India representative for the diplomatic assignment of the London Bangla newspaper. Previously, he worked with high efficiency in various top national media outlets in Bangladesh, including Global Television, Samakal, Bhorer Kagojo, Jugantor, Kaler Kantho, Manabkantha, and the news agency FNS.
Alongside his career in journalism, he successfully serves as the founder and editor of the popular news portal Dainik Ajker Kotha and the English news portal joybanglarjoy.com.
