Shibir infiltration in Chhatra League is no longer a mere whisper; it’s a disturbing truth that has erupted into national discussion. The revelation of several current committee members’ alleged ties to the Islamist student group Shibir has rocked the organization’s credibility. In this backdrop, renowned journalist Bani Yasmin Hasi took to Facebook with a powerful, emotionally charged post that has since gone viral.
She wrote:
“Shibir-linked leaders in the current Chhatra League committee have been exposed. Had the hidden Shibir connections from the previous six committees also come to light, the context of the August 5 incident would be crystal clear. Termites have been eating away at this organization for years. Those who entered politics out of love and idealism were the first to be pushed aside or excluded. This blow was inevitable. The tears of grassroots activists had to be avenged. But there is hope—fire doesn’t just produce ashes, it forges steel. No one can stop a purified, Shibir-free Awami League grounded in Bangabandhu’s ideals. Generations carry this ideology forward—it cannot be extinguished, only reborn.”
Her words struck a nerve with thousands of Chhatra League members and supporters across the country. Reactions poured in:
“This is the truth we needed to hear.” Others commented, “Hasi apa’s voice gives us courage to speak up.”
Political observers say Shibir infiltration in Chhatra League has long compromised the integrity of the ruling party’s student wing. Over the past decade, many alleged infiltrators secured leadership positions using influence, bypassing sacrifice, loyalty, or ideological alignment.

Senior student leaders argue that this didn’t happen overnight. They blame a series of flawed selection processes, favoritism, and negligence in verifying candidates’ ideological backgrounds.
“Without immediate cleansing, the organization will continue to suffer,” said one former Chhatra League president. “We need a complete reassessment of all past committees.”
Bani Yasmin Hasi’s post also emphasizes the call for ideological revival. She reminds everyone that Bangabandhu’s political philosophy is timeless, and the spirit of the Liberation War must guide Chhatra League’s future.

Following her post, discussions have emerged within pro-government circles—will there now be a review of previous committee members? Will steps be taken to reinstate deserving, ideologically loyal activists?
For now, Hasi’s post remains a rallying cry for thousands who feel betrayed by favoritism, opportunism, and the growing influence of ideological enemies within.
Shibir infiltration in Chhatra League is not just a matter of leadership. It is a question of identity, legitimacy, and the future of youth politics in Bangladesh. With voices like Bani Yasmin Hasi’s leading the charge, there is renewed hope for a purified, people-centric student movement.
