Rezvi Group Protest in Debidwar Led by Barrister Rizviul Ahsan Sparks Political Heat
Rezvi Group protest in Debidwar — Thousands of BNP supporters took to the streets in Comilla’s Debidwar upazila on Wednesday to protest against what they called false propaganda and conspiracies targeting BNP and its acting chairman Tareque Rahman. The massive protest caused a two-hour blockade of the Comilla-Sylhet regional highway, creating significant suffering for commuters and transporters.
The demonstration began at 3 PM at the Debidwar New Market’s Shadhinata Chattar, led by former joint secretary of Comilla North BNP, Barrister Rizviul Ahsan Munshi. The protest was attended by local BNP, Jubo Dal, and affiliated organizations.

Due to the heavy pressure of incoming processions, the highway was completely blocked until 5 PM. Once the program ended, vehicular movement resumed.
Earlier that morning, a rally led by AFM Tareque Munshi marched from Reyaz Uddin Model School grounds through the main roads before converging at the protest site. Local leaders including Gias Uddin and Kazi Masud Hasan also spoke at the gathering.
The air was charged with slogans like “No place for war criminals in Zia’s Bangladesh” and “Jamaat-Shibir must leave Bangladesh now.” The political heat was palpable across the Debidwar town.
Rezvi Group protest in Debidwar signals BNP’s growing readiness to resist political suppression, with unified grassroots showing strong presence on the streets once again.
