A case has been filed over the attack on journalists in Muradnagar, Cumilla, during news coverage of a political clash between supporters of BNP and followers of adviser Asif Mahmud Saji but Bhuiyan.
The case was lodged at Muradnagar Police Station on Thursday night (July 31) by journalist Md. Shahe Imran Hossain, who is a resident of Panthubi area under Kotwali Thana and a Cumilla district correspondent for the daily Khola Kagoj.
According to the case statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Allah Chattar in Muradnagar town, where local students and citizens organized a protest against alleged propaganda targeting student adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib and his father.

During the rally, a counter group reportedly attacked the protesters. While journalists were capturing footage of the clash, a group of assailants suddenly turned on them, injuring at least seven reporters. The attackers also allegedly snatched cameras, mobile phones, and cash from the journalists.
Md. Shahe Imran said, “We were assaulted while doing our job. They beat us and took away our cameras and phones. We demand justice.”
Muradnagar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidur Rahman confirmed that the case was accepted and added, “The accused fled the area shortly after the incident. None have been arrested yet, but operations are ongoing to apprehend them.”
The attack on journalists in Muradnagar has sparked outrage among media professionals, with growing demands for swift justice and arrests.
